Creating Video Guides
| Video guides can be usd to demonstrate how to do something or they can provide the learner with a tour of, for example, a website or a building. Video guides can be created by recording things using a digital video camera, by turning a series of still images into a video or by using screen capture software to show the learner how to do something on a computer. | |
This resource explores different methods of producing video guides, and provides some examples and tips on how to create them.
The resource is a Xerte learning object. To access the resource click Creating Video Guides, which will open the resource in a new window. Work through the learning object and close the window when you have finished. It is fairly easy to find your way around a Xerte learning object, but for help navigating Xerte, click the help function within Xerte.
The resource was produced in Xerte which allows the user to change the font, font size and background colour of the learning object. The text can be read using most screen readers.
Video guides can be created to run on mobile devices such as mobile phones and PSPs (portable Playstations), so that they can be watched anywhere. Video guides can be downloaded from a number of Internet sites including http://www.videojug.com and http://www.moletv.org.uk.
When using devices to capture video recordings, you sometimes discover that the files are in the wrong format. You can change the format of the files you have created by using the online tool you will find at http://www.media-convert.com
