Applying Multimedia - using Images, Audio and Video

Recent developments in technology have made creating, editing and manipulating such media files really straightforward.  This resource includes links to free online step-by-step guides for adding images, audio files and video files to Word and PowerPoint documents.

Accessing the resource: 

The resource is a Xerte learning object. To access the resource click Applying Multimedia, which will open the resource in a new window. Work through the learning object and close the window when you have finished. It is fairly easy to find your way around a Xerte learning object, but for help navigating Xerte, click the help function within Xerte.

The resource was created with Xerte, which has inbuilt accessibility features and can be used with most screen readers.

Additional information: 

If you include a lot of images in a Word document or a PowerPoint presentation, you may find that the file size becomes very large. You can often remedy this by making sure that the image file has been compressed. Click on this link to find out how to compress image files.

If you want to take your own photos for inclusion in Word or PowerPoint documents, don't make the mistake of thinking that you need to get an expensive digital camera. Most mobile phones will take pictures that will have more than adequate quality for most purposes.
